Tianyang Han graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and is active as both a performer and educator in the United Kingdom.
Originally from China, she discovered her passion for music after hearing Yundi Li in concert, which inspired her to pursue a professional career as a pianist. At the age of fourteen she entered the Shenyang Conservatory of Music to study with the distinguished pedagogue Danwen Wei and his assistant Lei Wang. In 2014 she moved to England to continue her studies at the Royal Northern College of Music with Professor Graham Scott, where she was awarded the prestigious Lord Rhodes Scholarship. She subsequently completed her Master of Music degree.
Alongside her performance career, Tianyang is dedicated to music education. She has held teaching and accompanying posts at institutions including Brighton College and Dorset House School, and currently teaches piano at Cheltenham College and Loughborough Schools Music.
An enthusiastic chamber musician, Tianyang performs regularly with the Valette Trio and with cellist Yuuki Bouterey-Ishido. She has appeared at venues across England with the Valette Trio and has been awarded the Hirsch Prize, Nossek Prize and Weil Prize. She has also participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists such as Michel Béroff, Josep Colom, Edith Fischer, François Dumont, Filippo Gamba, Daumantas Kirilauskas, Sergejs Osokins, Marc Silverman and Jerome Lowenthal, among many others.
Her festival appearances include performances at the Italian Music Fest in Perugia, where she played Mendelssohn’s First Piano Concerto under the baton of Sergei Babayan, and at the Semaine Internationale de Piano & Musique de Chambre in Switzerland, which she attended on full scholarship in 2018, 2024 and 2025.
Tianyang’s prizes include awards at the 16th Hong Kong–Asia Piano Open Competition (Youth Class and Chopin Ballade/Scherzo Class), Third Prize at the Shenyang Conservatory of Music Competition (2011 and 2013), and a finalist position at the 2017 competition season.
