The Silja Trio was formed in Manchester in September 2022 by members Georgie Bloomfield, Hanna Csermely and Cillian Hennessy. Their violinist, Georgie, is a current pupil of Catherine Yates and already in her first year at the RNCM, she was awarded the Cowen Prize for Violin. Since then, Georgie has had a myriad of incredible experiences from performing as a soloist with Liverpool Sinfonia in Chester Hall, to taking part in a masterclass with internationally renowned soloist Augustin Hadelich. Hanna is currently studying piano under the tutelage of Helen Krizos. Since the beginning of her studies in the RNCM, Hanna has been awarded ‘Highly Commended’ in the Underrepresented Competition, as well as winning the Award for Best Pianist in the James Martin Oncken Song Prize. Hanna also gives frequent solo recitals in venues around the country such as Winchester Cathedral and has recently made her debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Their cellist, Cillian, studies under Gillian Thoday and during his first year at the RNCM, he was awarded a scholarship from the college alongside the Marie Thecla Kieran Award to support his studies. He has since won the Amy Lindley Prize for Cello and has taken part in a masterclass with the renowned cellist Hannah Roberts.

As students at the Royal Northern College of Music, the trio has received tuition from some of the leading chamber musicians in the country. They have worked closely with tutor Jeremy Young, the Head of Chamber Music at the RNCM, amongst others, in order to further their skills as an ensemble. In their first year they have tackled core repertoire such as the Clara Schumann Piano trio, alongside Shostakovich Piano Trio No. 2 and they have since given a number of performances including a recital at St John’s Church, Buxton, playing in ‘Beyond the Music Festival’ and in the International Women’s Day Concert at

Anthony Burgess Foundation. Currently, the trio intend on tackling Brahms’ monumental first piano trio, as well as discovering more underplayed works.

We are at the end of our “normal” Autumn series. Our new series starts on 8th February 2025, with Luna Piano Duo! Look forward to seeing you all then!

Sir Stephen Hough

We do have a “finale” on the 1st December with Sir Stephen Hough, celebrating the end of the year in which we held WACIDOM’s 500th Concert! What a fabulous achievement for us all to celebrate – volunteers, audience and performers. We thank you all for your continued support of the concerts and look forward to hearing Stephen play!

I’m just giving a gentle reminder that Sir Stephen’s concert is ticket only. At this time all tickets have been allocated. If you have a ticket and for any reason can’t come to the concert, please contact Sharon Cannell as soon as possible, so that tickets can be reallocated to those on the reserve list. Thanks in advance for this.
