Christmas Truce Carol Remembrance Service

The Christmas Truce Carol Service will remember the 1914 World War 1 Christmas Day Truce when soldiers in the trenches stopped fighting and played football together in no-man’s land.

The Lancashire Artillery Band will lead carol singing, with Warrington Male Voice Choir and others also taking part. Dance and dramatic representation of the 1914 Christmas truce football match will also feature.

Do come along and join in this service of remembrance on this the 100th Anniversary of the start of the first world war. Soldiers from both Warrington and Hilden will be remembered.

The service is at The Halliwell Jones Stadium on Sunday 14th December at 3.0 pm. Entry is free and everyone is welcome!

Silent Night at Liverpool Cathedral Theatre

silent night remembrance play pngSilent Night at Liverpool Cathedral Theatre in the Quarter, in partnership with the Cathedral are performing this play in the intimate setting of the Lady Chapel. Silent Night tells the incredible story of the Christmas Eve truce of 1914, through the experiences of a group of Cheshire soldiers and the families they left behind. Against a backdrop of archive images, original music and popular songs from the era, Silent Night vividly portrays events surrounding the historic moment when the guns stopped.
