Malcolm Goodare is in his final year at the RNCM studying the cello with Sally Pendlebury, having recently graduated from the University of Manchester as part of the ‘Joint Course’. He is originally from Edinburgh, where he went to the City of Edinburgh Music School. There he formed a band, Fiddlers on the Ramp, who became regulars on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, and drew in large crowds. Journalists took interest in the dynamic young band and they featured on BBC Alba’s ‘Buskers’ and on Czech TV. They are currently recording their first album.  Chamber music is a passion for Malcolm. He plays regularly with the Marvolo and AdLib quartets and is also half of the Merlin Duo (cello and guitar), who formed in Edinburgh, and have been exploring for years the vast, exciting but largely unknown worlds of music with cello and guitar. They have a passion for contemporary music, but also have ventured into arrangements of music from the past. Malcolm has also performed twice as a concerto soloist, with Scottish Sinfonia and the Peebles Orchestra. These days he takes a keen interest in composition as well.
